Looking for new alloys
« on: 16 August 2008, 16:25 »
I have been looking for some new alloys for my golf. My first choice was a set of BBS RR alloys. I was searching on rimstyle.com and couldn't find them when I searched for ones that would fit a mk5. Would this be because they are the wrong size? If so, what does everyone think of these as a replacement: http://www.rimstyle.com/pages/products/product_detail.html?category=alloy_wheels;type=dotz_roadster;model=974;id=DOROAGM1875511245 ? If I do get them, what would be the correct tyre choice: 225/40/18 or 215/35/18?

They look nice.

Check the BBS site for what they recommend in CH form - then around that size..?

Tyre size would be 225/40/18.

The Dotz wheel in the original post is one I've seen in the flesh and unfortunately it doesn't live up to it's pic. The colour is okay, but the finish is almost a sandpaper type effect and IMO would be a real pain in the ass to keep clean. When I enquired about DOTZ alloys at my local wheel store, the owner wasn't impressed with their quality or their service and says he wasn't going to be stocking them any longer. :lipsrsealed:

My other option is a set of BBS RR, but I don't think they are the right size for a mk5. I don't see it on some sites where you can search for what fits your car. BBS CHs are nice, but I don't really want them to be honest.
