I have put this in the styling section aswell but seeing as its about a mk4 i thought id put it here too:

Hi guys,

drove into work today in my fairly recently bought mk4 1.8t gti and a guy who just got back from hol and hadnt seen it before said "nice, is it a 1.6s?!".  its standard so i admit it looks abit bland but not that basic.  the most annoying thing is he actually knows quite a bit about cars!

Anyway, does anybody have any sudgestions as to what to do to make it look better, more special, more GTI?  I am on a tight budget also.

What a dunce. Colour coded bumpbers and rear GTi cluster should have given away that its NOT a 1.6s. Clearly this guy doesnt know that much about cars

Front GTI grille badge is nice a cheap from ebay. How tight is your budget?

A big improvement to the exterior of my car was when I got the front & rear lower valances colour-coded - totally transformed the car.

It depends on how you want the car to look. I was all for fitting genuine GTi Anniversary rims on my Golf but then thought, I don't want people to think I'm trying to look like an Anni because I'm not. I'm going for BBS CK's instead

Just buy a GTI key ring, and stuff it up your mate's arse. He won't be mistaking your motor for a 1.6 again.
