Items that I'm thinking about ordering...
« on: 11 August 2008, 09:21 »
From Awesome GTI...

1 x Bonrath Badgeless Grille Mk4 Golf
1 x Carbonio Intake 1.8T + 2.0i
1 x Forge Splitter R Recirculating Blow Off Valve 1.8T
1 x Milltek cat-back exhaust for Golf Mk4 1.8T / 1.9TDI Non-Res
1 x Mk4 4motion Rear Valence OEM

Anyone got any idea how loud the Miltek is?
Estimated cost of getting the rear valance sprayed and fitted?
Does the grille have to be sprayed up? How is that cut out in the bonnet masked?

I've seen some replica R32 wheels on the bay too, some work out about 400-450 quid with tyres, fittings and caps. Anyone bought any from there? What's the quality like? Any where else I can pick some up for a decent price?

Cheers guys

change your Splitter R for the 007P :afro: if the Splitter fails Forge will send you a 007P - says it all really!

Rear valence is cheaper from the stealers - unless Awesome are doing the fitting of the exhaust?

This is the thing, at the moment, my car is completely standard, and when it dumps I can hear the OEM recirc, all be it very quietly. I want that exact noise, but louder!!! I don't know how to describe it, but it makes me sex wee whenever I hear it. I've told my mrs that if she could make that noise whilst we're getting jiggy, i'd be the happiest man alive.

What valve makes that noise?? I want it sooo bad.

I'm not getting the exhaust fitted there btw, so I'll get the valance from the stealers if it's cheaper, and I never thought, the mrs knows someone who works in VW parts - WINNER!

You know the noise a rally car makes, bit like a horse lol. What valve makes that sound? Isn't that a recirc? I hear my car make that noise now, and it's standard. It's just really really quiet.

a dump valve.

The air is pushed out through the air intake system. therefore a CAI wil lamplify the sound.

You could keep the VAG dump vavle and add a CAI and you would get that noise. But i'd upgrade it for the Forge item

Yeah, I might try fitting the Carbonio before the dump valve and see what it sounds like. Although. isn't there an after market valve that can make the same noise as the OEM valve, just louder? Cause the OEM is prone to breakage so I read.

the 007 wil ldo that with the CAI.

The splitR will make the noise but it is prone to throwing up fault codes.

Does the carbonio put the filter in the bumper? As in the bumper they suck up water which kills your engine.

Yeah the Carbonio is mounted in the frount bumper. Can't you get some sort of hydro shield thing to encase the filter, something that allows air but not water through? I'm sure there was such a thing available for one of the bumper mounted CAI kits for the Type-R. I think it's just something that fits around the cone, not sure.
