exhaust issues

I have a 16v engine, gearbox & exhaust system that came out of an 1982(ish) mk 1 to go in my 1989 cabrio. I've been told that the whole exhaust system won't fit, can anyone out there confirm this for me???

The exhausts on post 88 cabrios - like many of the parts, are different to pre 88's, and the cabrio exhaust is different to a mk1 tintop anyway. Only found this out last year when I had to have one specially fabricated for my '92 cab. - try speaking to a powerflow outlet and see if they will fabricate something for you.
