how long after giving your pride and joy a good shoeing should you let the car cool for? i either drive the last mile or so steady or leave it ticking over for about a min. is this about right???

Thats pretty much the same as me but after a really good thrashing I will leave it running for 3-5 minutes.

i left my fiat coupe turbo running for 3-4 mins after ragging it ;)

Taking it easy the last mile or so I reckon helps (Marcus - I too had a Fiat Coupe, 20VT, let that cool but still manged to get on to my 4th turbo in 12mths ownership  ::) something fundamentaly wrong with the engnie though - turbo packed a big punch once it had spooled up though  ;D) Nice to be back to VW reliability...

get a turbo timer, It will keep the turbo ticking ever even after the ignitions been switched off for about half an hour to let it cool.
