so its not looking good from them either. I think im just going to get the rear painted as theres no way id pay over 300 for 2 vw badges, no matter how cool or good quality. its nearly the price of a millteck cat back.

That exactly what I was thinking.

What paint did you use for the front badge on your's Joe?

ive been intouch with them about 3 or 4 times. this was one email :

Hello Joe

We were wondering where all the traffic from the UK was coming from.

We have had a lot of interest from the UK in the last 3 months.

The rear emblem on the MKV must be sent to us.The dealer charges $200 for the core and it  includes the whole mechanism. Also at the same time you could send the front emblem with the rear emblem the front factory VW emblem is $35.

I will get you a price on 20 front and 20 rear emblems.

Regards

then got this email:

Hello Joe

Sorry for the delay.
Our Euro dealer the TT shop.Has a group buy going on with the front and rear emblems for the MKV right now.We are working with them exclusively. We are going to do a great price on these. Also they will have a full product line in stock for everyone to see the quality of our products in person.

Any questions feel free to contact us anytime or the TTshop

Regards

....Thanks for posting that info, Joe

You can see how the costs of the stock cores plus shipping and taxes add so much to the final prices.

Interesting though how so many got hot for those carbon VW badges but now are put off by the cost, but I can understand the priorities - I've already got my Milltek etc. Real carbonfibre is invariably relatively expensive.

no worries robin

"Real carbonfibre is invariably relatively expensive." but it can be sorced cheaply, like my grill 70quid, and OSIR wing mirror covers i found for 150, so i believe that if i hang on and dont take the plundge then in time i will find them cheaper.   exhaust is a must thow

....Agreed, Joe . You were very lucky I think to have sourced those OSIR wing mirrors on eBay. I hope for the sake of others that cheap fake ones don't appear. You won't regret the Milltek - You going for Resonated or Non-Resonated?

If anyone is interested, here are some links to a German ebay shop selling GTi front and rear badges in gloss black. I have seen some Japanese GTi's with matt black badges as well which would also be worth looking into but haven't found any on ebay yet.

....Gloss black would match the stock glossy black nosepiece very well  - Looks better than matt black imo.

Check the exact size though - VW badge sizes vary between models.
