MY NEW MK5 GTI
« on: 09 August 2008, 21:13 »
Hey guys,

Wanted your opinion on this..I've just bought an 08 plate ex demo GTi from my local dealer and love the car, but i specifically asked the dealer when the Golf was coming up for a facelift/body change and when i could expect my model to become obselete. He told me that a new GTi wouldn't be out until at least 2010, which i was more than happy with. Yet at the beginning of this week, i see the new golf shape and hear the Gti could be here by the middle of 2009! It might just be me, as i know i've got a great car, but i didnt expect to spend nearly 20k on a car that will be completely changing in under  a year. Would this bother any of you, or am i just being a crybaby??

cheers mike

Hello and welcome. Myaylett88357229485789849826253588575664646
Me reckon's you should just enjoy what you have got it's agreat car you wont be dissapointed.
You have still got at least a year before one comes out, and know one is sure how good it's going to be. there is plenty of info in the MKV section on here, and it wont take us long to convince you how good a car you have got.

appreciate the reply Tomcat. Absolutely love the car, and probably shouldn't care..But its been niggling for the last couple of days since i've seen the new one. Should have done more research!! Same thing happened with my last car. Bough a new Saab 9-3 Vector sport, only to see it change in no time. Don't need any convincing with this one though, i havent been able to wipe the smile from my face!!

I wouldn't worry. Your car may not have all the sparkly new baubles. But, it will be better put together and not full of cost cutting measures like the Mk6.

yeah, i've heard they implemented the changes to save money on build and production costs. Will take some pics tomorrow and post them. Thanks for the encouragement, just wanted a second opinion

You'll love the Mk5 and who knows how good (or otherwise) the Mk6 will be.

I guess the main issue is the fact that the salesman lied to get a sale. I know that would p**s me off!

The mk6 should be boycotted until they do something new, fun and interesting with it!
