....WOW!!!! That shiny finish (what's it called?) is fabuloza!!

I'm now wondering if powder-coating my Monza II 18's (to kill the white worm monster) in that finish would be too much.

RR - they're ball polished, followed by a clear top coat.  Monza II's with that finish would be a bit much, I think.  Narrow spokes will work, but that will be a bit OTT IMO....

BTW - youv'e got the wrong boots on.  Yours are Load Index 88, whereas the GTI needs the XL rated 91s !!

So a load index of 88 means that I can only put a loading of upto 560kg on each corner, instead of 615kg with LI 91?  Is that really going to make much difference with a car that's only occasionally got two people in it, weighing 1.4 tonnes??????????????????????????

Actually, get it on a track, or even on normal roads, and with a bit of heavy straight line braking, and due to the weight transfer, those front boots will be sharing approx 75% of that 1.4tonne!  On a track, braking whilst cornering, then just one tyre will be bearing most of that mass!  :nerd:

II will sue Tirerack.com if it does make a huge difference - they're Yanks, they'll settle......

I dunno what the Insurance requirements are like in Dubai, but in the UK, if you fit tyres of a lower speed rating or lower load index than the OEM spec, then it will make your insurance invalid.  In the UK, most of the time you are likely to get away with it, but can't you loose your head in Arabian countries for such minor indesctretions!

Lol - well I got a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cups delivered for the Monza II's for when I go on track, so it's not too much of an issue really.

Are the PS Cups any good?  Have you tried them in the wet?  How long do you reckon they'd last compared to the PS2s?  I'm seriously tempted to get a set for the RS4 !!!

Regarding the boots with the 88 load index - if you are sticking with them, you ought to increase the tyre pressures to compensate for the lower load carrying capacity - say an extra 3psi in the rears and 6psi in the fronts

T-T - thanks for the info - I'll get the pressures raised.

I haven't tried the Pilot Sport Cups yet - they're the semis and will be purely for track use, but by all accounts they should last 12-18 months at our local circuit if tracking every 6 weeks.  Feedback from everyone else is good - we shall see....

You obviously haven't been to Dubai though!  I haven't seen any rain since January - I definitely won't be putting them on the car to drive to the track if it does rain (December-January are our 'wet' months!) as the local driving style is erratic, to say the least!
