It all looks Arabic to me

On the 3rd photo, thats a heck of a lot of balancing weights on the bottom of the wheel, are they all like that?

Just that one - shoddy German build quality....

Ther others only have 1 or 2 v small weights on...

Prolly looks Arabic because it is an Arabic country (at least I'm guessing Dubai is Arabic).

I was actually after the translation, because my keyboard don't have those characters on it, so I can't bung it in BabelFish.

My point exactly....

Just for T-T and RR.......

BTW - youv'e got the wrong boots on.  Yours are Load Index 88, whereas the GTI needs the XL rated 91s !!

So a load index of 88 means that I can only put a loading of upto 560kg on each corner, instead of 615kg with LI 91?  Is that really going to make much difference with a car that's only occasionally got two people in it, weighing 1.4 tonnes??????????????????????????

Actually, get it on a track, or even on normal roads, and with a bit of heavy straight line braking, and due to the weight transfer, those front boots will be sharing approx 75% of that 1.4tonne!  On a track, braking whilst cornering, then just one tyre will be bearing most of that mass!  :nerd:

II will sue Tirerack.com if it does make a huge difference - they're Yanks, they'll settle......

I dunno what the Insurance requirements are like in Dubai, but in the UK, if you fit tyres of a lower speed rating or lower load index than the OEM spec, then it will make your insurance invalid.  In the UK, most of the time you are likely to get away with it, but can't you loose your head in Arabian countries for such minor indesctretions!

....WOW!!!! That shiny finish (what's it called?) is fabuloza!!

I'm now wondering if powder-coating my Monza II 18's (to kill the white worm monster) in that finish would be too much.

Ohh - I just noticed that.  Looks like they have only been statically balanced, rather than dynamically balanced.  Do they have just on line of weights, roughly along the centre line of the wheel, or are there two separate lines, one on the inner edge and one on the edge immediately behind the spokes?

I doubt its the alloys - more like the tyres, particularly as the tyre fitter didn't line up the painted dot on the sidewall to align with the valve stem!

IMHO that finish would be to much over the larger surface of the monza's  Sunglasse's would be required

Back left has weight in a line, near the centre line of the wheel.  The others have offset weights...

Now If I'd just parked the other way around to get sunlight onto the back left......!!!!!!!!

Lol - well I got a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cups delivered for the Monza II's for when I go on track, so it's not too much of an issue really.
