Oh I see....  so its easier to take manifold and downpipe off then split them once off the car !! I get why people say its a squeeze to remove the downpipe now !!

yeah generally.  trouble is on a 16v the downpipe has that big resonator box on it which wont fit thru the gap in the subby, so not really an option unless you drop subframe too

If you want to remove the downpipe without dropping the subframe you will have too leave the manifold on. You will need alot of clearance under the car as you need to twist the down pipe to feed it out through the bottom. You will also need to loosen the gear change rod divice thing near the down pipe. You have to move this right over for it to come out.  you will need a pit or a ramp to do this though

I dont necessarely want to remove the down pipe altogether... I just wanna find out where the blow is coming from !!!    the blow is louder when turning right (exhaust leans to left) and quiet when i turn left !!!

is it coming from the joint or the flexi joints
mine was blowing from flexi and when removed it looked like it was unwrapping and getting blown out of the joint and looked like wire wool if that makes sense

I undone the 6 bolts from the top with a ring spanner and a rubber mallet, I didnt smash the hell out of them tho just enough for them to let go then undid them by hand, no shearing!  The flexy bit is there so the zaust can move and it blows from there for a couple of mins on start up
