We'll have no T25 bashing on here! Ok so maybe they're not as "Scene" as a bay or a split but their far better to live with day to day and they're much better value for money.

Me and my wedge have done loads of shows and I don't feel it has any less street cred than a Bay or Split. In fact in many ways it has more as people know you haven't been bent over and shafted just to look cool.

I'm not saying I wouldn't have an early van, I'd love one, but I'm not made of money and I wanted a VW bus I could afford and enjoy. The T25 (Or T3 to give it's proper name!) has done that for me in spades.

When was the respray and rust treatment done? Seems surprising it's got any rust if that was done properly, unless it's just rusted where the paint's been subsequently damaged I guess.

Looks way cool though

I wasn't saying you've been shafted but so many people splash out loads of cash on early vans thinking their cool only to end up with a tub of polyfiller on wheels and £1,000's of pounds out of pocket.

I think I got a bit worked up but I think the poor old T3 gets a bad wrap from a lot of the scene. It's not old enough to be loved by the aircoolers and being a van it doesn't really fit in with the H20 scene either. It's kind of in no mans land really. THat said I've doen a couple of wedge only shows which were awesome.

No matter what van you get, if it's got a VW badge on it it's cool be it a Split, a Bay, A Wedge a T4 or a T5. Vans rock!

my thoughts too kittie, like i said the only way to deal with rust is to cut it out completely therefore if is coming through it either a) wasnt done properly b) has since been damaged.

I know what you mean about older but not old enough vans, its ike that with everything in life I'm sure some mk whatever golf owners feel that way and there is always a said better model... but you gotta go with what suits you.. if you got a family then space is needed and nothing that'll cos a fortune... if you have dont have these then you can indulge yourself.. its up to you....

Spot on, I don't have a family (Well I have a wife but no kids) but we're financially not that well off at all and the van is a luxury. For a total spend of less than £2K we have a van that'll take us where we want to go and allow us to stay wherever we end up in comfort and warmth. If I had the money to buy an older bus when I bought the van I would have done but I didn't and I'm happy with what I've got. If I have the money for an older one later in life I think I may still stick with T3's but get a West Atlantic with all the trimings and a Scoobie flat 6 out back. I kinda like the underdogs, ha ha!

vaughny in da house

looks a nice van guy,
couple of quick questions to ask before viewing
what welding has been done on the van
when was the respray done
what work has been done on the engine, is it original or re-con
has he got receipts for the work that has been done to the van, i.e respray, welding etc
if all is good and it`s a genuine van and genuinely had loads spent on it
£6k all day long

one thing i will say is check what size the bed is as most people prefer one that goes the full width of the van, some only go across 3/4 of the width due to cupboards and if there is two of you it can get pretty cramped
any thing else you need to know ask away

one of my old bays

57 plate black 5dr ed30, 1969 bay window devon camper. thats all for now folks, hopefully picking up a wagon tomoz

id say its worth about 5 but the way things are they probably expect 8. the way things are at the minute i'd hold fire. i recon the prices will plumett in the next few years, similar to what happened with classic car values in the last recession. maybe

i'd but a t4 transporter and fit it out. they look cool, dead easy to lower (springs up front, torsion bars rear i believe), audi alloys fit them so you can be looking sweet with modern fuel economy and reliability for not a lot of money!
