« on: 06 August 2008, 23:29 »
pop top on M reg
done about 79k i think
1600 engine looks in VGC
full shell respray and rust treatment
only two very small spots of rust and a scratch on the rear panel
12month MOT & tax
fairly original otherwise

it's obviously a loved camper and one that the owner is regrettably parting with as he has imported one from Germany which he picked up today

whaddya think?   :undecided:

ps. yes, yes, I know I could have asked on a camper forum but I wanted to ask you lot as I trust your opinions!

Looks tidy from that pic. Price varies depending on what spec the interior is, Westy's fetching more money than any of the others like Devons. It's RHD so again that bumps up the value.

To be honest these buses aren't my forte as I'm mor eof a wedge man but if it's less than £4K I would say it's too cheap and if it's more than £6K it's too expensive.

That really doesn't help does it?

These campers are increasing in value like crazy atm!
If it is as good a condition as that photo looks then I would have thought £6k would be a minimum.
But yes that Vaughn man is the resident expert!

I also would have thought minimum would be £5k-£6k with the max being about £8k though I'm no expert. I do love those old camper vans  :smug:

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

:undecided: you are going to need to get your head under the bus check out the front beam, tops of the shock mounts go there and its an mot fail and you cant have the dront beam welded , these vans are worth a lot of money and people do flash them over with a little paint and ask top dollar for them  but in 12 months time you could be looking at all that rust coming through, the only rust treatment that truely works is to cut all of it out
it not a particularly desirable model it's not tax except. imo not a good colour for a bus but thats just me... and i would have to ask myself if he/she loves it so much why import another if this one is good?
just be careful if you go and look take somebody that knows lots and lots about them :nerd: because if you buy a lemon its sour.... good ones are out there and oh the fuel prices are starting to have an effect on price.

so do your home work, look at lots of photos they may all look alike, but there are many differences between models and years some look cooler that others.
imho i'd rather see rust and holes than get the filler for free

oh and that devon (i think from the photos) can and do leak for a past time, go on to justkampers.co.uk or vwheritage to look around for prices for common things like rubbers, brake pads etc.

Given their thirst and current fuel prices, it might take you to Dover before you got shy at the pumps though.

Go find a diesel T25 instead - better value and it will use far less fuel. And crank oil seals.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

he probably wants to have SOME street cred tho.  and they arn't that much better on fuel and will alway go up in value... T25 nice if your growing old and really arn't into the whole bay/splittie way of life, theres more to them than just fuel they are way cool and ya know it  anyways slam in a LPG conversion like mine and your away. coolness, fuel economy and street cred
