Another chipped & cracked windscreen
« on: 06 August 2008, 09:30 »
My second in 2 months...

£60 excess payment and I insisted in a new screen as I doubt they'd be able to repair the damage.

Gutted.

unlucky mate, at least whatever hit your windscreen didn't hit your paintwork!

It is one of the drawbacks of having a nice fast motor. Always being behind someone waiting to overtake and then........pinnnng..another chip/dent/crack.

I stuck my wipers on one morning and there was grit under them and it left 2 nice semi circles ingrained in the windscreen, but not in line of sight.  there aren't that bad and have lived with it for 3 months so far!

Abso-bloody-lutely!  The amount of crap on the roads these days is a joke.  I realise there are more vehicles on the roads nowadays but it’s no excuse.  The councils do below the bare minimum with everything

Well autoglass have done a repair rather than replace the screen that I requested.  It's a good repair job but I can still see the mark on the screen.  I'm wondering if it will bother me in the long term?  The guy said I can give it a few days and then call them back to replace the screen if I want.

If you did it on insurance, if they can't fix it then they replace it.  All you pay is the windscreen excess fee (usually £50-£70).
