Hmm....I am getting a cluncking / ticking noise when I turn right at slow speeds.  Been under the car to see if anything was loose but everything seems to be intact.

Anyone else had this problem?

If I wasn't going on holiday this week I would have it up to the dealers but don't have the time until I get back.

Sounds like the normal steering rack issue.

Have a look here - http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=32092.0

Hands up who managed successfully to get their steering racks replaced ?

Can anyone advise if the Technical Bulletin as detailed in the referenced post above is valid ? "the problem is on ELSA and its reference is 317/06"

I just know when I go to my local dealer they are going to deny all knowledge of the rack issue and they will undoubtedly refuse to accept that this reference is valid.....sorry... but I can just hear the conversation now.....so, are there any updates on this reference? can anyone check somehow on a system to determine validity and to save the pain and delay of dealing with a dealer in denial?

My car goes in for its pre mot check and the warranty runs out early next month so am keen to get as much replaced as possible, if its required of course.

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

I had mine done on my old (05 Plate) GTI, the dealer took my description of the problem over the phone and ordered a new rack straight away, so it's must have been known to them.

Right just had the missus on the phone saying it is now cluncking when traveling in a straight line.  Does this also happen when the steering rack is goosed?

Booked in on Thursday to be checked over.
