Possibly sold the wrong Sat Nav System?
« on: 04 August 2008, 18:46 »
Hi, not sure if anyone can help me here. I bought my edition 30 gti back in March 07, I had a selection of pre built cars to choose from and bought what I thought was a car with Touch Screen DVD Sat Nav. The cost was £1450 inc VAT. Im now thinking Ive been sold the wrong system. Looking at the manual and pics its an MFD DVD Navigation system and not the newer RNS-510.

Can anyone tell me what they paid for their MFD system, as I can find no price list and the latest system offered in the GTi is only the RNS-510.

Thanks
Dan

you got pic, although the car was registered now it could be old spec and have been sat around, either way i wouldnt have paid that much for it, as they can be got on ebay for about £400

yes It looks like this:

I think Ive been ripped off! :-(

My Invoice says 'DVD Navigation system with 6.5" colour touch screen = £1450.00 inc VAT.

Does anyone know if the MFD was classed as Touch Screen before the introduction of the RNS-510?

It was definately an old stock car, as I had to select from pre-built cars in VW's UK stock list. Im almost sure though at the time I ordered what I thought was touch screen nav. Apart from my sales invoice Ive got no way of finding out what the options were at the time.

MFD was never touch screen - if it stated that on the invoice you have a good case to go back to them and try to get it swapped.

Edit: especially if your the first owner.

Does anyone know how much MFD was as an optional extra? (its not available anymore) that would fight my case more if I have been charged for the touch screen system.

Anyone got an old options price list?

Ta
Dan
