Sorry to hijack the thread but does the OEM bluetooth work without Sat Nav?

Yep as long as you have the Highline display.

thanks for the rapid reply and advice Steve.

Cheers
Dan

No probs, it's helps me while away the afternoon at work.

Steve, what interface do you use for your ipod? Is it the standard factory fit or one of the Kufatec or Dension units you mentioned?

Next thing I need to find out is if the Bluetooth and Kufatec units conflict with each other. No reason why they would, but worth checking out before purchase.

I don't have the iPod adapter with mine, I just use a few SD cards to hold the music and put some on the Hard Disk as well. But if I had the choice I would probably go for the Kufatec VW MDI, as you said it fits where the CD changers goes plus it can also support USB sticks as well.

One thing to note is the Kufatec kit doesn't come with the iPod lead, you need to get this from the VW dealer, it's costs £22 IIRC.

Also the MDI and Bluetooth do work together fine.

Blimey, I dont actually know which Head Unit I have! If its the touch screen sat nav, which unit it is it likely to be? Dont be telling me I had a hard drive hiding behind the dash all this time and SD card slots!!!! :-)

Can you have Cd multichanger, sat nav and ipod in the same set-up, i thought you could only have one or the other because of the lack of aux inputs, or is that what the dension unit does, allowing more then one aux device?

The VW MDI iPod adapter is a direct armrest replacement for the CD Changer, so I believe it would be one or the other in this case.

The Dension kit however has an add-on to allow you to retain the CD Changer (I think it's about another £30).

Touchscreen nav which looks like this: -

Has a 30GB hard disk (about 18GB usable for music) and the small slot below the screen is for SD cards upto 4Gb in size.

am I right is saying the Dension unit has the ipod sitting in the glove box? where as the Kufatec item is neater in the arm rest.

Im not bothered about dropping the 6 cd changer to be honest. CD's will be dead in another year or so, its about time car manufacturers started fitting this sort of kit as standard. How long have ipods been around now?

The dension could be installed anywhere, but the standard place to put it is the glovebox.

The Kufatec is OEM VW hence the nice armrest integration.
