Newb! What to look for
« on: 04 August 2008, 10:51 »
Hi Guys/Gals :)

Just signed up as I've got my sights set on a Gti Mk5 as the next motor.
Is there anything in particular to look out for when buying? It's either going to be a private buy, probably an 05, 30-50k miles, or from a dealership trading in the Integra.

Oh, and why are there NO white ones for sale anywhere?!?

Many thanks, James :D

Xenons, Highline Computer, Multifunction Steering wheel, 18" Monza's and preferably in Red, White or black!
Other useful options which iv found are the heated mirrors which are standard on GTI's and the activated kerb view mirror! Very useful if you always need to park by a pavement and dont want to scratch your alloys!
Good luck in your hunt!

OSIR Front Splitter - OSIR Rear Diffuser - RNS 510 - JL Audio Cleansweep - JL Audio 400/4 Amplifier - JL Audio ZR650 - Recaro Bucket Seats - 3.2 V6 of Pure Power!

Hi and welcome pardonator
If your buying one out of warranty check the steering rack for noise on full lock, check the boot seal for leaks look in the spare wheel well for water, and check the air-con, though on the older models this seem's more robust.
And that's about it.
PS the reason you cant find a white one is because everyone who has one wont sell them.
We all know its the best colour.

The only white ones you'll find are either ex VW UK stock (so relatively new), or the occasional one that crops up. Dealers don't spec their stock cars/demo cars in white as they are a little harder to shift than cars of more normal colours such as black, silver and grey. It's only in the last year that white has really taken off IMO.

Good luck with your hunt

MFSW (multi-function steering wheel) is a must in my opinion.  Gawd knows how people get by without it

Without sounding like a troll............

Do you people know that there is a search button? This comes up like twice a week.

Enjoy the car though. White looks amazing on a GTi.
