Well she flatly turned it down saying its for fat balding men having a mid life crisis.

Merc's still in the lead, just got to choose between the 280 or 350 now.

Been there and done that - if it's her choice get her the 350, at least it has some grunt for a hairdressers car (stereotyping - me  )

Cass

I was thinking along these lines, and after test driving one, I actually quite liked it!  Sounds good, not as good as the S4, but still...

Ok so now 7 gear Tiptronic or manual, as the normal auto box is terrible!

Seriously, my mate has a 350 and he loves it. Just realised he's now in Saudi and the car is garaged up - must email him and ask him if he wants it warmed up a bit

Cass

Can you get some more details please Cass, ie manual or auto, standard suspension or sport pack? Standard body or the AMG kit...!!!

Apologies for all the questions! Its a toss up between Obsidian Black and Iridium silver now...

quiet abit actually and if thats the case of being 100k, wind through your hair you say, if you can afford to loose 50k over a few years, then you have more money then sense.  Sorry mate, all porshe owners in soft tops are a bunch of balding ,willy wavers if ever seen, with there expensive sunglasses on, driver by Company Swats mostly, and not a single mobile hands free in sight, total to$$ers, the majority in anycase.

....Several good friends of mine have Porsches (as I posted earlier) and I have to take exception to them being called willy wavers etc etc. One in particular and who is one of my best friends, genuinely loves cars, as did his father (who was one of my company directors) and his grandfather who raced Bentleys at Brooklands. The family has money - Serious money! His previous car was a new DB9 and before that a TVR and Ducatti bike - He works very hard and runs his own business (in fact you would have heard of that company). The simple fact is that £100k to one person is like £100 to someone else and there are plenty of such wealthy people (like the friend who flew me to Geneva just for lunch not long ago). However rich or poor you are, whether materially or spiritually, there is ALWAYS someone else who is richer or poorer. It shouldn't matter to you.

You really shouldn't generalise like that, Phil.

Edit*****
i dont like this car at all

sorry not one of my favorites R32uk as you can imagine!.

Appreciate your comments there Phil. I admit the the 911 isnt for everyone (me inc. I hated the 996 with a passion) but it is a engineering marvel regardless of what we/you think of it. The turbo being the best of them. Its a quality car and the truth of it is if you spend 100k on any car brand new.. then your not likely to see much of that money back after 3-4 yrs (just be gratefull you didnt buy a DB7!!).

It is regarded as a little bit of a bald man in a mid-life crisis car... but thats usually because these little bald men know what they are doing when it comes to buying cars. But if it was me.. I wouldnt be bothered about little comments like that, Im only 28 and the turbo is definately on my shopping list!! i know others will be thinking yeah but the GT-R is faster and cheaper.. but 2 sec on the ring really would not show on the road at all!

If it was my money then I would go down the RS4 cab/TVR route... nothing sexier than a girl driving an expensive but not so girly car! (my ex had a boxster s and even tho I didnt like it... atleast she didnt buy a TT )

Neither me, and no doubt Phil meant any offence by the comments, (I dont even know what a willy waver is?) about porsche drivers.

I have 2 friends who own Porsches, both bald and both seemingly going through mid life crisies, (in fact one divorced, sold the house and bought an expensive 911 . )! I like them, personally, its just the wife doesn't and hey, its going to be her car!

Appreciate the help Cass, there are hardly any of them over here so I cant just ask an owner !

RS4 cabs too wide, R32UK, its wider than our S4, and that had to have 2 replacement wheels due to her kerb rashing them

Now thats a car I'd love!

I would run with the 350 slk! Even tho I am not a fan of the new benz's... i just think the whole quality of thier cars is a let down, i dont think the slk falls into that bracket. 350's look and sound lovelly!! but if you have driven one you will know that visibilty isnt great so expect a few more kerbs to be bashed

....If you'd travelled in convoy with Phil as I did up to Inters, you'd have experienced Phil's speciality of willy waving  - No, I'm only joking and hope my words weren't too harsh or defensive in my earlier post - I was just expressing my counter opinion and have met Phil several times and enjoy his company.
