Chipped door post!

was wandering if anyone knew if the door posts can be re-painted? i have a small chip which reveals bare metal underneath, but it seems like a special paint (its on the door post on the passenger side door).
basically some little urchin broke into my car and made off with my sat nav when i parked in a service station, i was 2 minutes and it was very busy at the time aswell!!    anyway they used a screwdriver to break the window and its left a nasty chip so i wanted to sort it out, any help would be much appreciated.

i would just touch it up with some black (solid) touch up
