Searching for THAT perfect car...
« on: 29 April 2004, 12:53 »
Hi All,
New to the forum but you all seem pretty helpful and wonder if you could forward some advice. (I single out 'golfvr6' here!!!)
I am about to embark on a proper search for one of the following cars:
Corrado VR6 Storm, Green, air con (was this standard on storms but not VR6?), factory unmodded condition, low mileage with FVWSH. I am looking for a cherished car! Would also consider a perfect VR6 - again must be standard and very well looked after.
or
Golf VR6 Highline - ideally 5 door and must be manual - black but would consider dragon green. again low mileage, full history, etc...yes that PERFECT car!

Does any one have top tips for dealers to approach, websites to visit as well as trawling through AT and E&M regularly.
I wonder also if anyone has every compiled a guide to the Corrado or golf, detailing with photos the standard details, options available and the range of colours, for example.
I appreciate the forum must regularly get posts like this one but any help would be appreciated. I plan to buy the afore mentioned car and then part with my current stead so should the right car appear I will be ready to move.
Kind regards,
Ed

Hello welcome to the site. One of the best places to look for the VR6 would be in the Golf magazine in the classifieds, this mag is changing it's name to Golf+ soon so look out for that. It can be a hard mag to track down so just keep looking out for it, the latest one comes out on the 7th May. This mag is also changing so that it does not just have articles about Golfs but also other VWs so you may well find the Corrado in there soon. Other than that look on Autotrader but I'm guessing you have probably already looked on there. Happy hunting.  :D
......now officially dubless.

Hi

Golf VR6 Highlines were only available in Black and Purple.  If you see any other colour advertised as a highline it isn't (unless it's been resprayed)

A genuine Highline will say Highline on the V5.

If you would consider the purple version (i have one and like it, but it's not to everyones tatse) then you will never find a better one than this -

I had just bought mine when i came across this one through a friend.

A corrado VR6 Storm will be increadibly hard to find to meet your criteria but if you managed to find one it would be an amazing car to have!

There are quite a few Golf Highlines around so just keep looking on AT website etc, try VW dealers (you never know) and get in touch with the golf sales specialists linked to on the main Golfgti.co.uk site.

Good Luck

Hi Ed,

They are definitely out there :) Auto Trader is the most obvious and easiest place to look. New ads are put on all the time but the big update is done really early on friday morning.

You could also try speaking to local VW dealers. I guess you are looking at P/R reg cars so they will still be coming in as part ex.

Goes without saying that you should get a HPI type history check done.

Not sure of any sites with guides to all the options. Could buy an old brochure, they are always coming up on ebay

Register (for free) on AutoTrader.co.uk and then search on Volkswagen - after you've gone through the main search then put in keywords "VR6".... see what you get there!
