If his figures are genuine then he will have a very quick car and would think he will have the upper hand in a straight line.
Do a few runs against him if you can, i will guarantee his engine will go bang. Those internals were never designed to handle that power/heat/boost.

Nor were the internals of the TFSi with regard to 300+bhp, but many of them run that power with no issues. Infact there are some BWA engined cars with stock internals and 380bhp courtesy of APR conversions, and they have had no major problems either.

I am not entirely convinced by the VXR range of cars (not keen on them) or their Ecotec engines (this is based on previous experience with a Vauxhall Ecotec engine), but they do go well.

Yes Vauxhall's are pants as i found out last week, my Co have given me Astra 1.8 Sri for a month and its nickers i thought it would be a bit nippy but its dull, dull, dull. It has SPORT button on the dash press it and fook all happens, but i am wondering if its like the TP button and finds sport on the radio :undecided: .

As for the VXR i'd say you may get a wee fright, how'd he get 239 out it?

Ordered wheels last week, should be arriving next weekend fingers crossed . Car is running well, done over 2000 now.
As for the vxr internals im not sure they can cope, time will tell as its still fairly new. The turbo may struggle as the one on the vxr is tiny, and the only way the vxr can get 239bhp is to turn up the boost pretty high.
I saw the arctic edition corsa vxr at the motorshow yesterday and have got to say that did look pretty good, not worth £17k though.

They do don't they.. You won't be paying 17k for them anyway. more like 47p by the time Vauxhall give out their usual discount and it'll be worth about 3 1/2p when it leaves the show room..

he said its still running standard boost apart from the overboost function or something like that has been disabled so it comes on all the time not just for 5seconds

he has a remap/ larger intercooler and full exhaust.. he reckons when regal release the upgraded internals and turbo he will be pushing 300bhp+ :O

quite impressive for a 1.6
time for some tuning me thinks

Theres no chance that the vxr can acheive that power with stock boost, His remap must be running stupidly lean or something, they only have 189bhp standard, intercooler wont add hp, it will just keep the boost air cooler resulting in the engine having the power for longer as it will take longer to get hot enough for the engine to dump fuel in at the top end therefore reducing power.
Exhaust will help with the power around 10-15bhp max depending on how restrictive the stock one is.
The remap is accounting for a 35bhp increase minimum.
Would be an animal if it had 300bhp but for the cost of a big turbo kit and stronger pistons etc, he could buy an astra zxr and run that to 300bhp for a lot cheaper.
