Going Stage 2..
« on: 29 July 2008, 23:49 »
Been chatting to my local tuner and seeing as I have the Milltek already and Stage 2 is now available, thought it'd be rude not to give it a try..  So basically setting up a date with him tomorrow (hopefully sat morning) and I shall be giving it a whirl.
Only concern is that i've heard that you lose some midrange punch in exchange for the increase in power high up in the revs.. , so i'll be giving it a try for a week or so and see what it's like. If I fell i'm not gaining enough oooomph to compensate for my midrange loss, then I will revert back. But for £50 may as well give it a bash...
Will report back my findings when done..

Intercooler isn't essential, but you will get more heat soak with the higher power output and so it is a good investment to look after the engine lifespan (also gives a few more horsies!!)

As I have mentioned previously, the limiting factor is fuel delivery. The mid range you have just now is not all that it could be due to the fuel pumps inability to deliver the required amount of fuel, and the ECU pulling back boost to compensate and therefore stopping the engine from running lean. The same thing will apply in stage two, only with the top end being restricted.

In reality, midrange is not affected that much, but the top end is a lot more enjoyable and the top end being more lively makes the mid range seem more paltry.

It will be interesting to see what you think, but you really should put in an uprated panel filter as the OEM filter is pap/inefficient.

I have just put the ITG Pro Filter in mine, not the cheapest but seams to be good quality.
