As a general rule a chip will add about 10% on most cars  ;)

let me know what you find out peeps, if there is a proven gain (with graphs etc to back it up)i would prob consider splashin another ?200 at the mk4 to get 10bhp for just a chip, as i have a induction kit on all read would just be a case of exhaust then, but to be honest this new 16vr of mine is rather fast so if i want quickness i jump in that now!! ;D

Check out that link to Superchips on Jv's response.

The extra horsepower is only available at very high revs, but look at that extra low-end torque!  :D

Not bad for turbo either upsolute, 20-30% gain thats a min 180bph for ?345 its either that or the trusty old revo for ?500 but then i'd get 196bhp!!!
decisions decisions!!!! ???

Its all better now very shiny, but now the windows have gone again! and shocks are squeaking like mice!!aarrgghhh

Don't agrea with that, some cars it will add absoloutley nothing in BHP, but it will change the characteristis of the power graph.  About 4 yrs ago i got my Fiesta si 1.6 zetec chipped, the dyno runs showed that the bhp ncreased by only 3 bhp, but the car seemed to rev all the way up to 7500rpm where as before it only went to 6000.  Chips only really seem to give massive noticable power gains on forced induction engines.
Me old diesel was quick/........

16.004 sec Qtr mile @ 85mph 23/5/04 Santa Pod

Now running around in soon to be REVO'd Seat ibiza 1.8T 20v FR and missing the fuel economy..............

I did only say most cars mate  ;)
10% isn't exactly a huge increase anyway, obviously chipping will be better with forced induction as the turbo boost is cranked up.

Right .. the bloke from upsolute have got back to me with details.
Here what he send to me

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your enquiry.

Please find attached the figures for your vehicle.

The fully inclusive cost of the upgrade is ?275, I can travel to you to carry out the work which takes approx 2 hours.

As well as the attached performance increase you will also see an improvement in the responsiveness of the vehicle and the pick up at lower revs.  You should see a slight increase in fuel economy, but to be honest this will be quite small ? especially if you use the extra power at your disposal often !

the attachment show a increased bhp from 125 to 137bhp.
so wot u think ? i am tempt to go ahead and have it chipped
so would it be best if i go to roller road find out the bhp before have it chipped and find ou after as well.
