VAG Trackday pics, 56K? Forget it!
« on: 29 July 2008, 21:26 »
Wow, what a truly awesome day! Some amazing cars and the weather was a scorcher. I reckon these are the best shot's I've ever taken, I'm dead chuffed with em.

This first lot are all my static shots, got about another 50 of on track action which I'll try and sort out tomorrow for your viewing pleasure.

Righto here's the on track stuff. The red MKI GTi on black rims owned everything on the circuit. I do meen everything, he was consistently 4-5 secs a lap faster than the Miltek R8!

VR6 MKII Van was noisey but not that quick as the driver had an exuberant style that mean lot's of squelling, hammered throttle and not a lot of speed!

This silver MKII is a syncro running a 2.0 crossflow 8v, it's pretty handy!

Nice pics Nick, was going to go to this, but was a friends birthday bash.

That Mk2 Vr6 van is Tony (or one of his employees) from Automotive Solutions for those that know him, and yeah he drives like a loon.

... it's turned into a fashion show for poofters.

Here's a couple of crap laps from inside my car, using a mint camera mount borrowed from Dan Buzzo:

Lap 2

I was behind it, setting out on my third session.  Quicker than me, which I was pleased about due to the amount of smoke it was belching, intermittantly.  Last year it threw a wheel off just after the Esses.  The drainpipe exhaust on it really is comedy, as is the towbar, which is an odd addition for a 'performance car'.

We had a great day and I took the Golf out for the parade laps at lunch, with our 21 month old daughter.  Mrs Hell followed in our 4Motion Passat, with our second daughter, who was 6 days old.   It's not brain-washing, it's encouragement.

Shame the promised 'heavy showers' didn't show - I would have had a bundle more fun with those (and peeled less of my tyres off too!).
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Much as I enjoyed the hot weather I'm with you Tom, A quick shower would have made it very interesting to watch. The whole day I only saw one person have a slight wobble! I didn't want to see anyone wreck their car but a few spins and some missed esses would have been fun!
