Looking for my 1st GTI
« on: 24 May 2008, 22:39 »
I have spent my whole life wanting a GTI, but they have always been out of my reach financially. Finally i am able to afford one. I have given myself a maximum budget of £18k.

I am looking to get one with multifunction steering wheel, 18" Monzas, centre armrest, ideally in black, as new as possible.

What i want to know is what discount on forecourt price can i expect get, and what age should i expect to get for this amount of money?

You should easily get an 07 reg for that money, if not a 57 reg.

Someone on here recently got a hold of an 07 Edition 30 for not much more than £18k

that'll be me , keep your eyes on places like autotrader, pistonheads website and even the classifieds on this forum for bargains before opting for a more expensive dealer option.

Dealer discounts will vary from nil to maybe £1500 ish, depending upon whether a stock vehicle or factory order.

Better off buying a nearly new and don't be put off buying private - let someone else take the initial depreciation hit, but you may not get the exact spec of course. Swings and roundabouts.
