6 speed gearbox

does anyone now the part no or code for a 6speed box? or where i can get it from?i know they were fitted to the anniversary model

Theres more than one choice. What ratio are you looking for?

a mate wants to put one on his 1.8t as the bearings have gone in his 5 speed box so he wants to put a six speed in so whichever one will be best

For an AUQ 6 speed box (Anni + normal 1.8 T GTi's from cir. 2003 on),  I think you also need driveshafts, flywheel/clutch, starter motor and power steering pipe, IIRC.

Good luck! I searched for a very long time to find one when mine exploded. Most breakers think they have one until they realise it's from a TT and 4 wheel drive!

I think Ivor is right on the extra parts as well as I even thought of going back to a 5 speed for a cheap fix (bodge-artist) but it wasn't that simple.

Buy a new one like I did in the end, bargain.

i think the 5 speed is better than the 6, the 6 is good for motorways but i dont think it uses the power in the right way.... if you know what i mean

i find the first 2 gears are far too close together - 3rd to 6th are nicely spaced though

always been under the impression they share the same box 

either way 1st two ratios are too short or could it be all the torque i have
