Gear box problem??????

 MK3,   2.0 GTi,

    Makes a noise like a train gatherin speed in reverse,  only when its gear, when i take it out of gear while reversing and letting it free roll its fine.
   Apart from this the gear box feels realy tight

   Have to pay a vist to local garage,but would like to have some knowledge before i go.

All gearboxes are noisy in reverse!  but they do tend to get noisy these 020 boxes.  first of all, get a realy good oil in it.  Redline is supposed to be realy good?!?
