Here are my dislikes:

1. Looks good and all but drying that honey comb grill is a pain. These days I either tell dad to take the car around the block and do some extremely heavy breaking or I pull out the leave blower

2. The Boot lid. Two things. The lining under the window. You just clean everything and you open the door and between the water that pours into the boot you also end up with a wet bumper. So.... Out comes the trusty leave blower for that too

3. The back airvents and cup holders. My brothers are constanty kicking the kittle silver pieces off the vents and its a warranty job so we cant fix it ourselves. BEcause it involves taking the centre console out... And the cupholders keep coming loose. Anybody here tried to put that thing back in? Major struggle

4. And then the actual carpets... You vacuum them and one drive and they look like a dogs breakfast.

Other than that I swear its a awesome car

lol.

SOuth Africa seems to get the perfect GTi...
**Dont say anything Ed30 owners  **

We get everything standard including heating seats and folding mirrors and everything and all the rubbish. I.E the light washers that wash your car, the cars next to you, the washing on the line down the road and miss your headlights completely.

We dont have the seatbelt chime or the rattles.

And according to the exchange rate we pay 20K for a completely full house GTi.

Floor mounted pedal did get some used to but most cars have it now dont they... ok now.

Agree on the water under the rear window - I always blow mine out.

Thats the difficult thing - moving from the GTI, I had real difficulty finding a car to replace the Leon Cupra R as it was quick, great value for money and loads of fun (always made you smile) but looks like the GTI didnt dissapoint as I love driving it and although miss the LCR I dont think I woudl go back now.  Moving on again might be a problem!

Edit:  Seat belt chime - the first thing I did when I got mine was turn that off!  I always wear my seatbelt so didnt need reminding!

Her addiction to alcohol/ ethanol (well ok ...Petrol, but I never did listen in Chemistry class and you all know what I mean anyway) :undecided:  :embarassed:

She drinks like Oliver Reed and Keith Moon at their most self indulgent.

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

After a year it's still a great little car and I enjoy every minute of driving it, either the boring work commute or some more spirited driving on the twisties.

But, alas, it has some flaws. In my opinion:
*Brakes could be better, could have used the R32 setup.
*The bare metal in body color visible on the window frames from the inside. That is so cheap...
*Why don't the side mirrors heating go on together with the rear defroster, but do you need a seperate control..
*Water on the seat and door when it's raining and you open the door or window.

And on a side note, the fact that with the recent lower prices and option packages, a well specced GTI is approx 8000 EUR cheaper. I could have driven a fully specced Ed30 for a little more than I pay now!
