Golfs.
« on: 21 May 2008, 21:21 »
I bloody love 'em, they may not be the fastest things on the road but my car hasn't let me down once, the interior is the best i've seen on a car that age & they are very cool looking. In that respect, i want to 'upgrade' from a 2.0 GTi to a 1.8T. This also gives me an excuse to change color, i don't like black, too hard to keep clean & every little scratch shows up. I really like the red ones.

She's a 2000 (X reg) 3 door & has 120,000 miles & is going strong, FVSH etc, but the downside is little stone chips from the last owners motorway miles, apart from that it's a clean car. I upgraded the speakers & fitted an ipod connector. How much do you think it'll go for?

This isn't an advert as just messing around with the idea at the moment.

If not a 1.8t, is the 1.8 much quicker then the 2lt seeing as it's only 8v?
Cheers guys.

If you are to get any other golf i stress it must be the 1.8 20v turbo and up :)

I shopped around and waited to find mine.

Mine is a 1.8 20v turbo 1999, 89k miles, £2500 Bargain :D

never looked back.

Hope this helps

p.s mine is in black and if you clean it every 3 days lol it does stay clean :P and look the best out of any colour

Indeed it will be, reason i didn't get one first was because i was 21, i'm 22 in June so hopefully they'll be gentle with insurance.
The 2.0 is a very slow car, a great car but very slow. I actually couldn't pull away from a new Fiesta & that was just the normal one, had trouble against a MPV from the lights etc etc, so i don't bother anymore lol. I love it tho but would love a turbo even more. I'm going to leave black & get red/gold/dark green or silver.
I spent a few days cleaning mine yesterday, came out today to find multiple bird droppings on it.

What's the 0-60 of the turbo's after they've been chipped.

Hope it sells soon mate, although the car is probably worth that, the amount of 1.8/1.8ts going for £3,000 & under will probably put people off.
You may have to lose some $$$ in the process, i bought mine for £3,000 & will probably sell it for around £2,600/700.

I bought mine for £5500 last Feb, admitably I have done LOADS of miles in just over a year tho.

It's a little hard to take losing what will probably end up being near £2g for just over a years motoring.

Ah, i thought you was selling it for around the same price but that is a lot to lose out on, i see where you're coming from. I'm guessing it's listed everywhere like ebay & various forums.  Have you got a quote from the dealers?

lol in a word YES. Its a fooking brilliant motor. I dont want to sound like im rubbing my nose in it, but its such a massive improvment (in every aspect, apart from the cup holder that is) over the MK4. But then its costing a hell of a lot more a month now. Worth every penny

Im going to sound like a complete tosser now, but being quite  young and all its a fooking babe magnet. Women are running towards me as I drive down the street, its brilliant lol.
