i dont get it?.....
« on: 21 May 2008, 17:51 »
right in 2005 i had a 1991 mk2 8v with pas. the other day i bought a 87 mk2 8v with no power steering.

i was dreading going to pick the car up cause i thought the fact that it had no pas would ruin it for me because people always seem to say you need big arms to drive a mk2 with no pas, and when i drove the car its light as a feather! i had to let my missus drive to to see if she thought so and now she wants one!

my point is, whenever you see an ebay ad its always "ohh you need big arms to drive this one" and tbh i think its a piece of p*ss.

does the fact that im a rugby player and my missus is a cage fighter mean anything??

PAS only really makes a difference when moving slowly and parking. I found the steering on my MK2 Scirocco light when moving at a decent speed.

I think its more about the fact that some people cant even remember what its like to drive a car without PAS and just assume that it'll be too heavy for them

Got it in 1 !

My MK2's got no PAS and even with parking it's not so bad, you just have to be a bit quicker steering is all

I prefer non PAS cars as they give you more feedback, but they can be a pain when some jerk-off blocks you in your parking space.

no PAS on the daily and I love it. People who say it's too heavy prob dont have their tyres inflated correctly.
