Removing Back seats
« on: 21 May 2008, 10:36 »
As above, want to take the back seats out of my mk3 gti, Can't unclip the centre clip tho.(inbetween the two seats) and how do the bottom part of the seats come off? (par that you actually sit on)

Help appreciated!

Haynes manual helped me, but here is what i remember:

You back rests off OK? If not, i think what you mean is the clip in the middle right, not the clips on the outer edge of the seat. The middle clip - you got the metal clamp/clip thingy. There are 2 i think, one for each seat. Basically just pull those out; it requires quite a bit force, so dont be worried. I thought i was going to break it, but looked in Haynes manual and it said just pull them out.

The bit you actually sit on is even easier. You need an allen key, 5mm i think. There are bolts that need undoing are sort of under the seats in the top of the footwell (if you know what i mean, or you can just find the screws, not hard).
Each bottom seat has 2 screws, so thats 4 screws total. Once the screws are out the seats should be out.

Good luck and i hope that helps some!
