mk4 dude, though i think it was souped up!
Surely a mk2 1.8t would rip a mk1 1.8 16v (standard) apart on a straight?
or does the power/weight ratio come to play!

There's a mk1 16v for sale in the for sale section if you've got 3.5k ono.

I would like to own a mk1 16v at some point.
......now officially dubless.

yeah saw that one gibby, looks sweet as a nut!
Would be awesome for my daily 50 mile commute on the motorway.

3.5k a fair price? I could use the money towards a 1.8t fund for the valver instead  :undecided:

He's said 3.5k ono, so could get him down a bit, maybe even to 3k if he wants a quick deal, but if I thought it was decent I'd pay around that mark for it easy. Decent mk1s are easy up to 3k+ these days. 1.8t in a mk2 is quality but there's just something about a mk1 16v that I love.

Just sold a pretty nice Mk1 on ebay - and I have to say it was a blast but id always revert back to the Mk2 unless you have deep pockets. If the rust gets into those sills (as it has on most) then its a non starter and a hefty repair bill unless you have the skills to fix it yourself

My old beast ....

Im a big fan of standard motors though so id have never considered a 16v conversion

I've had loads of mk1's, problem is, they are getting older and older by the day = More problems!!

As said before rust would be your biggest problem. My old mk1 had no inner wings when i took the wings off, sills were rotten, rear struts, rear arches, boot floor, bulkhead. Mine looked like a minter from the outside though with a respray and a tidy(ish) interior...payed a pretty penny for it just wish i would of got right under the car and had a good poke around before i bit the bullet!!!

If i was to get another which at some point i will, i'd be looking to spend around the 3.5k mark, you idealy want one which has had the time and money poured into it....so you dont have to!!!

Mk1's are so cooool tho!!!
