The end is near!
« on: 20 May 2008, 01:31 »

The end of all the hard work and waiting is close, i would say im about 95% done with the restoration of my mk2 golf gti 16v project,

just a few odd bits to do like cam belt and other belts, a tune up, a few odd bits of trip to replace, then its time to tax it and insure it as a weekend car for me to enjoy,

heres a mix of pics before and after,

and all the rest here,

Looks great mate, good stance. Only thing sorry but i've got to say it, it's a small bumper model with big bumpers attached. That's okay but i would personally have kept it origonal or gone back to it if i was doing a project.
How is she running?

Looks good - have to 2nd the comment on the big bumpers, also, does it now have a silver vw badge on the grill? pretty sure that early mk2's had black ones?

Either way its a stunning piece of work and ensures that another mk2 is good for another 20 or so years :)

What's wrong with a black grille badge? I bought 1 off flee-bay to replace my silver 1

I still have the silver badge so that I can restore it's 'original' look.

Car looks great!

I too got a black grill badge from ebay as my silver one was shagged to say the least!

Ah badge talk. Had this discussion with a mate on the weekend and i've just put a shiny silver one in, think it makes the front look more modern and stylish. Adds a bit of definiton to the grill imo.

Otherwise nice job on the dub, the red has become red again, not a skany pinky colour lol.

Nowt wrong with a black badge! What I meant was, is it actually true that late mk2s came with silver badges and early ones with black?
