Im going to be doing a full pads/disk change on my gti. (Genuine VW parts)

Noticed that the fronts are more worn from the inner side of the disk. (both fronts)

anyone know why this has happend?

also i remember someone saying something about rear wheel barings when you change the rear disks?

I've always found the inner side wears quicker. In a more extreme case, recently on my Audi I had to change the rear discs and pads on that.........the inner pad had completely worn, the outer was like new. Reason was that the carrier/slider had siezed meaning that the brakes were only really acting on one side of the disc......piston side.

oh bugger, thats probably where the low, raw, binding sound is from when i brake.  Ive seen lots of pad on the outside, and not bothered to take the wheel off to check properly.  So looks like ibe getting new disks  ::)

as for bearings, you'll either have to take out the old ones to put in the new disks, or buy new one.  For a tenner each and  *alot* less hassle, buy new.
