Mk5 alloy wheel offset
« on: 18 May 2008, 23:04 »
Hello!

I have a set of kahn alloy wheels that I bought off a chap who had them fitted to an R-reg A4 quattro. They wont fit my current car as the pcd is wrong - I was planning on changing my car soon for something vw/audi but due to house move Im selling these wheels. Got someone interested but will they fit on a mk5 golf?

They say on the back that they are et31. I understand that the offset means how far the wheel sticks out, the lower the number, the more they stick out. I have searched some alloy wheel guides which say mk5 is et40-45 and audi A4 is et35-45.

Cheers, Dan

Edit: I was talking bollox before..

Does this help ...

Audi A4 - 1994 to 2000 - PCD 5x112    ET 35 to 42
VW Golf V - 2003> - PCD 5x112 ET 40 to 45

If you put a wheel on the same hub with a bigger offset, the wheel will sit further inside the wheel arch because the wheels bolting face will have to move further in to meet the hub

Alternatively if it has a smaller offset it will sit further out from the wheel arch

So the answer to my question 'will they fit on a mk5 golf?' is pretty much a NO then!?!

Is there any way they could possibly be adapted to fit?

Il let the lad know that they can be adapted to fit then it's his decision on what he wants to do. Don't want to sell anyone anything that isn't going to fit.

Thanks for your help guys!
