so thats without a dog bone insert to stop any engine hop.
its odd to me your lowest term speed is your best time showing its all in the launch.
Yeah, but that could be down to anything really.. Plus it's only 0.4mph, we'll just call it 13.2 @ 107 anyway..
No dog bone insert, no. Didn't get any engine hop at all really, just spun quite a bit all the way through first pretty much. I am going to try Conti's on the fronts when they are worn, as I had them on my LCR and they transformed it in regards to grip. But with 320 bhp and FWD, i'm always going to struggle a bit..
As I say though, 12's is my next target and i'm pretty confident i'll get there too..   Not bad for a family hatchback eh.. Love these cars!

Not sure when that'll be up, as it was filmed off one of my mates friends camera and it was my second run he got (13.4, he missed the 3rd run , as was in the queue).
But he said he's going to email me it, or put it on You Tube..

I am going to see what r/r figures i get before i think about investing in a milltek tbe, or maybe the APR tbe.

A better "hook" at the start of the run can give a better 1/4 time, but a lower terminal speed

I can always start trailing different things at other Pod visits, like lower the PSI in fronts and strip back seats out etc. But just wanted a 'road trim' figure to go off first..
Hurdy, did you try and warm your tyres up before you run? Bit tricky with DSG..  I know you're tyres were fooked though. But I think with a good burnout to warm the front will help with the launch (did in the LCR anyway), just not easy with DSG..
Is the Launch control misuse/warranty void thing a myth, or true? I will never bother with it on the road, but at Pod it's a must I think, but don't want to take the piss with it..

It is harder to get a burnout with DSG, but not impossible. There wasn't much point in a burnout for me as it would have only made bad tyres worse.
The LC warranty is a myth, the VW booklets even mention LC, but do not mention any limitations as to use, so VW would be on dodgy ground advertising something as a feature of the car and then trying to limit the use without putting it in the book. The original story was that if you used it more than twice it would invalidate the warranty, but how can you limit something that is a feature?
One tip I've recently found is that you get much better grip from launch with coilovers set at their hardest damping on the rears. Every little helps.
At Bruntingthorpe the 1/4 mile isn't as grippy as Santa Pod is and so you can expect to lose between 0.1 and 0.2 seconds through the 1/4 mile time. Having said that I'll join you in hanging myself if I don't get a sub 14 second pass next time out.
