Pulled
« on: 16 May 2008, 09:06 »
Simple scenario. Driving along a single carriageway, national speed limit. Come round a bend to a crappy 4x4 doing 40mph. Pull out and over take. Coming the other way is a copper, just as I pull out to overtake he is coming over the crest of a hill. As I pull in he passes me approximately 3sec later, so it was a very easy overtake and tbh didnt even require me to change down a cog or use full throttle.

My spidey senses got me to look in the rear view and sure enough I see him slam on his brakes, followed by some reverse lights, promptly followed by some blues. Now I only live a very short blast down a country road from here so I was very tempted to see him off  only 6 cars ahead of me prevented this. So he inevitably catches up, and pulls me. The he gets out of his car and shouts "GET OUT OF THE CAR YOUNG MAN". Just to make this a little simpler to explain, everything he says from this point onward is SHOUTED at me. Every question he asks, he doesnt wait for an answer but decideds the next question is more important than my answer!

It was the first question that really got me.. "Tell me why you should still have a driving licence?" answer: "Because I have been driving for 10yrs never been pulled and I havent done anything wrong!". This just seemed to wind him up more... on went the questions. he actually cautiond me as I stepped into the car, which I am guessing is a scare tactic... but im nobody's fool and knew he could never do me for anything but rather than waste more of my time and of course every other tax payers I decided the best thing was to keep quite and let him carry on talking his sh1t about how I should over take people.. Anyway to wind this up he told he was going to let me go (what a f%*king suprise). So after another patrol car had been out and checked my car over.. (itsa 57 plate btw what could possibly be wrong with it???) He then told me next time I wont be so lucky and told me I could go! The Tw4T!!

The whole episode took approx 30mins if you include the time it took to do the checks... and probably cost the tax payer a fair whack if you take into account that it took three of the t1ts that long to work it out!

And then people wonder why others say coppers are kn0b5.. this is a prime example of the kind of crap they do up my way! I hate to think what would have happened if i had spoken to him in the same tone he had spoken to me. Taking into account that I never even went over the 60mph speed limit probably would have spent the night in a pig sty.

I think next time I will use my instincts and just push the fast pedal to the metal

*rant over*

How close were you to the crest of the hill and how close was you to the Police car?

if you overtook a car before the crest of a hill with a car coming the other way you're lucky he din't do you for careless driving.

bar stewards!!!

And the police wonder why they have image issues with motorists.

The problem is you can't do anything, complain with their badge numbers and you would probably spend the next year getting stopped weekly and nothing would happen to the officer.

I feel for you, but glad it worked out in the end

A good 3 sec before he passed me after I had completed the overtake. Just to give you some idea i drive this road 4x a day. Its about a 2mile strech and have actually overtaken up to 6 cars on this strech (not in one go ofcourse). I just wish they would make it clearer what the speed limit is!! The number of people who do 30 onthis strech is a joke!! With traffic coming the other way, sometimes its just not possible.

If he had read that he would have kept well away. The fact is I was having quite a quiet little cruise home, and not driving enthusiastically at all. Let that mo'fo' try get me again... im leaving him and his vectra estate for dust!!!

I'm dreading the day I get pulled for no reason, because I have absolutely no patience with, or tolerance for idiots, whether uniformed or not.

I feel exactly what your saying there topher!! But having had many many incidents with the T1T5 involved (not driving related) i have realised that unless you want them to waste more of your time the best thing to do is to say as little as possible, dont raise your voice and act as innocent as possible. I am speaking from lots of experience here.. and have tried all possible routes... Never been charged for anything either may I add but have spent a few nights banged up for trying to stick to my guns on principle. They are just power crazed kn0bs... dont stoop to their level they can be even worse once they have got the cuffs on.

lol.. I don't shout or scream or get abusive, I'm just a naturally sarky and patronising cnut at the best of times... which I know from experience only winds the power-tripping jobsworth minority of coppers up even more
