Wipers not working

Hi wipers on 8v gti stopped working the other day found blown 15a fuse, which I replaced only for it to happen again, so its shorting out somewhere, before I fork out for an auto electrician. Does anyone know a good place to start or anyone suffered a similar problem?

Might be the arm internals, mine messed up and started to smoke, took it off and all the electrical bits were out of place
