Hurdy got a good price on these I understand.

If I was to upgrade brakes then I reckon there are 3 options depending on money/cost/availability....

1, Uprated Disks + Pads
2, R32 Brake Setup - better jumping to this option if you do a lot of track days etc
3, AP Racing Setup/Brembo Setup - or a.n.other 4 pot setup

Anything more that that would be an overkill.

....Also, on the Mk5 GTI you don't really need to upgrade the rears as over 85% of braking is on the fronts. Also you would have all sorts of handbrake trickery to deal with if changing the rears.

There's a connection between AP and Brembo but AP Racing have complete autonomy with their development and products which are mostly in the competition (racing) field.

Are they 330mm discs Hurdy? I got some quotes on the three different tarox kits. 320mm with 6pots, 320mm with 10pots and 330mm with 10pots. Incidently the 320/10pots cost a little bit more than the 330/10pots. The price i got for the 330/10pots were a smidgen over £1700. I could haggle abit more, but since you say it should cost £1995, then my initial price seems like a bargain anyway.
But isn't 10pots abit overkill for a light(ish) hatch like the GTI?

Kev

Yes they are the 330 mm discs.

10 pots maybe overkill for a standard GTI/ED30, but if you are planninglong term, then it is better to go for overkill at first as later on it may save money if you found a milder upgrade became inadequate  The fact that I got mine at around half price made my mind up for me :smug:
