new 2.0TSI
« on: 11 May 2008, 23:20 »
Been reading a thread on golfmkv about the US getting the new 2.0TSI engine in the 2008 Golf's - anyone know anything about this in the UK?  Will it be seen in the Golf here or not...

Looks like its got a few changes - timing chain, something different about the fuel pump, new engine cover, different intake

Its what they called the 1.4 twin charger engine initially but it looks like they are calling them all 'TSI' now.

Thread Here

I understand there is a 1.8TSI which will be available soon - again just a turbo charger on that one.

....What's the betting that the GTI Mk6 will have this type of power plant?

Almost certain - although looking further forwards whats the better they put a bigger twin charger in there - 1.6 or 1.8 ...

As long as VW don't screw up the good recipe of supplying an easily remappable motor, then things will be fine.

I don't think that VW are as interested as we would like them to be about aftermarket tuning. It took a long time for the tuners to 'crack' how to remap the Mk5 GTI when it came out.

Across the pond they are already saying that this new 2.0TSI isn't as tunable - Don't ask me why cos I dunno. But it's early days.

After all the hype about the new GTR being untune-able, then Mines cracking the ECU in a week, I doubt it will be to long before products start appearing.

Any car can be tuned.
