ryt my cars got its mot in a few weeks and i kno its gonna fail on the sus as my right front shock is fooked. was gonna buy a second hand set of uprated shocks but my dad wants me to buy new so theres no wear or tear. he wants me to buy a new standerd set from vw as he thinks that it will be cheaper than gettin a uprated set. does anyone know the price of the new set from vw and is there any decent fully adjustable sus about in the same price range!!
cheers
jim

Best "budget" shocks would be Boge turbos from gsf, you'll be looking at approx £100 for all 4. They aren't strictly budget though, they're very good!

thats without springs, you can get some lowering ones only say 20-30mm pretty cheap, but if theres nothing wrong with the current springs probably be ok swopping them over. id renew the strut top mountings whilst your there.

it will improve handling by far. Lowering springs can also be bought from GSF.
99438 LOWERING SPRING KIT G2 inc. GTi/16V Lowers 40mm £57.50
Sports suspension kit
99502A SPORTS SUSPENSION KIT G2 ALL INC GTI 8V £159.00
hose are your two options. so really your looking at about £200 for a decent set of new shocks and springs.

If you want some decent springs I'd go for Eibach.
