That would depend on how wide a track you want and also how much the car has been lowered.

I’m also looking to put some on my mk2. Can any one help with the following?

1) Is it correct that if I buy a 10mm kit for example it will widen the car 5mm on each side?
2) What’s hubcentric and how do I find out if I need hubcentric spacers.
3) At what width do I have to change my bolts for longer one's.

this will all depend on, what mark golf, what offset your wheels are, what tyres you have etc etc there are no hard and fast rules to say what you need. look at the car and the clearance you have between arch and tyre. if you have 15mm space and want it on the arch, you'll need a 15mm spacer.... but just beware that you'll probably scrub like hell, unless you've done some clever arch tweaking/rolling/camber.
the cars you see with alot of wheel poking out normally have stretched tyres, alot of camber and probably took alot of effort to get it like that.
for example it took two of us, 3 hours to work out the right ride height, camber and 4 sets of various thickness spacers before getting this car to sit like this with no rubbing:

1) it depends, most would say a 10mm spacer is 10mm per spacer rather than 10mm overall. best to check with the supplier when you buy.
2) hubcentric is a spacer with a 'hub' on the face where the wheel sits. this locates the wheels properly, meaning the wheel isn't being supported by the bolts = safer! hubcentric is only available, generally, on 10mm or above.
3)again, depends on your wheels and how much thread you have poking through to tighten your wheels up! if ion doubt, get longer bolts as you really don't want your wheel falling off due to saving a few quid!
