Difference between 18" and 19" wheels
« on: 10 May 2008, 15:26 »
Took my 19" CH's off today, gonna get all 4 refurbed, had 2 done last year and I've never been 100% happy with them. I've put the standard pescara 18" wheels back, I've never driven the car on these so it will be interesting to see the difference in ride, handling, grip and speed between the 2. Also what the ride is like with Eibach coilovers and standard wheels.
I'm gonna have new tyres allround when the wheels are finished, probably Goodyears, unless anyone has any better suggestions. So if anyone needs a couple of part worn Toyo T1-r's, 5-6mm accross the tread with no repairs or scuffs, check out the classifieds, lookin for about 50 quid each

Should sit pretty sweet still, will be wierd as its the same wheel style - you'll get neighbours wondering what your doing.

I'd have thought that theoretically you'll have slightly less grip (235 v 225 section rubber), slightly less feel (more flex in sidewalls) and a bit more comfort (thicker side section), but I doubt in reality you will feel much difference as a lot of it will be subjective as you'll be looking for the difference

Well, I've just been for a bit of a spirited drive, got a b@ll@cking off the misses, the car does ride a little differently. It feels slightly better over the bumps and a bit smoother on the motorway. Round the bends the turn-in doesn't feel quiet as sharp but overall grip seems similar.
Although there is only an inch difference , the wheels really do look alot smaller, and the sidewalls look alot bigger but the car does still sit really nice. I'm not just saying this because I've got em but the car looks much better on the 19's .

O yeh, I think the neighbours think I'm barmy anyway the amount of time I spend on the drive and in the garage cleaning and tinkering with my car and bike

Comes with the territory of owning a nice car and looking after it.

My neighbours reckon that I am barking mad, this last week I have spent 3-4 hours each evening on my drive trying to get out the scratches and marring that was in my Mark V's paint when I bought it second hand
