The Earth has been put screwed in to the metal under the seats. It was sanded down to bare metal as well so surely it couldn't be that?

i mean the earths for the rest of the car, you might have moved them or something

No didn't touch any wiring behind the stereo, the only thing I did was plug in the RCA lead and connect the remote lead to the blue connection off of the block of the Alpine one.

BTW, do we think it's a wise idea for me to go unplug the power cable from the amp in case it drains my battery?

it may have nothing to do with the stereo. check wiring in the pas side footwell as it may have been disturbed.
shouldnt drain the batt if the remote wire is connected properly

drivers side below and to the right of the steering wheel. there’s a plastic panel you need to remove that and all the fuses should be visible. from what I remember the description of what each fuse does should be on the back of that panel. check them by pulling them out and looking if the metal strip down the middle isnt broken (don’t get them mixed up)

i would check them first

good luck

I'll look at the fuses first thing in the morning, thanks for the advice, a question though, if some of them have blown and I goto replace them, wouldn't the same just happen?
