Sorry to hear that mate, I had a break in for my old car. Civic Type-R. Take all the measures you can dont want to scare you but the chances are they will be back. PM me the area might be the same scumbags...

Sold it not long after due to the hassel.

Garage my new GTI every night now and have the house alarmed etc. Sad state of affairs really.

Would say to anyone who does have a garage use it, £20K motor safe or the junk in the garage safe not much of a choice really!!

I think this has been covered before alot, but just to air some caution, not all thieves will run away when a lights turned on, an keeping the keys up in your bedroom, f**k that! do you really want the fatherless sons upstairs in your house, where your wife/girlfriend an kids are?

Im sad to say it cause im the last person youd expect to not put up a fight for my car, but at the end of the day, its just that, there insured, get a new one!

Id rather have no car than die or have some bad sh!t happen to my family because of it!

I'd have no hesitation to blow a 9mm entry hole in anyone entering my bedroom that didnt have an invitation or an official uniform on.

This worlds getting worse. Build bigger prisons.

Mate of mine had his RS4 and his missus's A3 knicked in the same way. He said he went downstairs and the cushins of the sofa had been laid out on the living room floor, books were placed on the floor too. The fu%&ers had broken in to his house and taken the keys for both motors. Police said they do the sofa thing to slow you down, you may spend a few extra momnets wondering what has happened. But the main message the police told him was that there would be a high chance that someone was waiting outside the bedroom door with some type of bat/knife/gun and if he had of woken.... well who knows what may of happened. The A3 was recovered but the RS4 was not.

P.S. He had advertised the car for sale on a reputable on line used car site and the coppers recon that the villans got his details from the web site!!

So is breaking and entering, theft, assault and robbery with intent etc. Even if you scare them off with it, at least they wont return.
IMO a thief who does a reccee of the area, or picks up where you live and what you drive from delivering papers/milk/post/goods/services to your house wont stop just if you have put the car in a garage.
I hear stories from the UK as I have a relative in law enforcement there.

The aim is to make it as difficult as possible for the barstewards who do this kind of thing. Which I class as being in 2 categories.

A) Crack heads who look around for these cars. Usually very lazy but will do anything to get there hands on a car i.e. smash a window and grab the keys. the solution to this is simply to keep your car out of sight, and make it as difficult as possible for them. They usually dont work so when they do have to do some graft... they like to make it as quick and easy as possible. If the car is out of sight they will simply look for a easier target.

B) Pros who will carefully pick their cars and know eaxctly what they are after and will work a cunning plan to get it. These guys are usually well organised and will be after you car, and nothing but your car (with keys). These pros will usually want to avoid confrontation and getting caught is a big no no, so will take less risks but be a little more smarter with their planning. Chances are if they are after your car they will probably get it... but will not want to be seen or risk getting a whole can of whooop a$$. Only real solution is to slow them down by taking your keys up stairs with you and some level of personal protection is usually likely to see them off.

So me keeping mine in the garage would hopefully avoid any run ins with type A, and should I attract the attention of a type B then I am hoping the sound of my garage door opening will give me the 15 secs I require to get downstairs and turn his skull into a smoothie  :smug:

Im not going to risk my life over a car... but I aint going out like that :smug:
