will an airbox and airflow meter that came from a 98 P reg 8v GTI fit and work on a 93 L reg 8v GTI?

There are a couple of different types although I'm not sure what year they changed over. Mine is a 97 and has a Hitach air mass meter and there is also a Bosch version and the two are not interchangable as far as I know.

i think they changed at 95. Either way, the 93 you drive uses a bosch system, and the later one uses a hitachi, i dont know the difference, but i wouldnt recommend swapping them, with all the troubles i have seen posted about air mass meters!

neaty the air meter wont fit but the box will!! as said yours is bosch and later ones is hitachi/siemens/simos (why they get 3 different names for the same system?) injection

I saw on ebay an airbox and airflow meter going fairly cheap you see, never mind.
