You also need to get the toe checked.

This is toe-in or toe-out.

This affects the steering in centering, you know if after a corner you let the steering wheel go and it should turn back to centre by itself. If it doesnt then the toe is incorrect!

Camber as with toe can change for a number or reasons including kerbing your wheels.

Any work done on the front suspension such as top mounts, wishbone bushes etc should be followed by a full realignment, and this should include measurement of toe, camber and castor. Toe and camber can be adjusted on the front wheels but castor is not easily adjusted. As for the rears you  can only adjust the total toe by adjusting the position of the rear beam mountings. Giving more negative toe to one side will give an equal amount of postitive toe on the other side, unlike the fronts which are independently adjustable.

A proper alignment will significantly change the way the car handles, turns in and reacts when you hit bumps/potholes.

I would agree however, that worn bushes will cause similar handling problems.

How much (if you can find someone to do it) are you looking at for a full alignment setup?

There is a very good place not far from you in Rainham called Elite who I use. They will check the four wheel alignment for about £18.00 and then show you the report on your current settings and tell you what if anything needs adjusting. If you need both toe and camber adjusted on the front then the full cost including the £18.00 check will come to around £70.00

They also give you another report after the set-up showing the new alignment settings.

Well worth the money IMO.
