Roof mounted aerial from audi
« on: 06 May 2008, 18:35 »
Hi, first post on here
i bought a 1991 Golf Driver 1.6 about 2 months ago, and am in the process of doing it up. Before i come to putting a recon engine in it i'm sorting the aerial out because the wing one has been snapped off by someone.
I've just been to the scappys and got a roof mounted one from an Audi A4, its got an amplifier in it which I want but Idon't know how to I wire it in.

Both connecters had something on them, would the amplifier still work if I used this on it to convert it.

Sorry for the length, just really annoyed i can't get radio at the moment.

It looks as though it will. Although it may have been cheaper to get a bee-sting aerial from GSF, I think they come with fitting instructions.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

It cost me £3 from a breaker yard, but I gues i'll have to buy this convertor now. any ideas on the little spade plug. It had a black and white wire coming off it that I saw running into the iso block where the head unit is. then there was just a standard iso aerial plug for the antenna.

i would guess the black and white lead is a power lead for the amp, most head units will have a switchable live coming of them for amps or electric ariels so wire it up to that it should work
and you'll still need the normal ariel lead

It's an electric aerial input usually blue/white or Blue on a headunit :) Amplifier is built into the aerial just needs a 12v supply.

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08
