Personally I'd have the car back to the dealer. Driving style counts for alot, but there should be some consistency in figures here. Too big a margin IMHO.

Yes all GTi's have PCV's.
Your mpg does seem low Martin, I average 26/27 in my ED30, mixed/sprited driving, with the mods listed below runnin well over 300bhp.
Is there any signs of oil around the oil filler, as I believe this is one of the first indications of PCV failure.
It sounds like you need to get it checked out

Martin that is a low mpg.

I'm based in beverley and the daily run to M1 jnct 32 will always be about 31-32 mpg average, even if it dips to 18 average on the run to north cave on the B1230. This is with cruise set at touch above yours in a standard gti with 17"s.

I had mastered the art of "economical" driving in the MK4. Im still getting used to the gearbox in my MK5. I do a 1 hour trip to work in the morning (which believe it or not is only 15 miles) 30 minutes of which is sitting at the Blackwall Tunnel approach doing only about 3/4 miles. I managed to do that in 27.9 MPG which I thought was pretty decent. I could only manage 29 - 30 at best in the MK4 so it really does go to show what an improvement the FSI engine is.

As Phil said I try and not look at the MPG figure too much as it can be depressing reading sometimes lol
