« on: 05 May 2008, 17:22 »
what do you guys think to the vw badge painted black?

just seen a mk5 gti today was grey and he had painted the front vw badge looked cool.
from a distance it made the whole grille stand out more but could still see the vw badge.

his back one was still silver.

anybody know were to purchase a black badge but i guess its a d.i.y :undecided:

Do a search in the Members section for Komenda. Go into his profile and you should see his signature. The front VW badge is black

Use matt black and not satin !
And be sure to apply atleast 7 layers of paint allowing each layer to settle for atleast an hour before you apply the next layer. Reason for this is because the paint will wear off when you wash it and with general driving. Applying several coats will mean only taking it off and painting it once in 3/4 months. Yes it is a headache but worth it.
I used spray paint which was a doddle to apply.

Satin will reflect and shine with sunlight and i personally didnt want a shiney look. Atleast the matt is dull which focus'es the attention on the red lipstick but the VW sign is still visible but not over-powering

may be showing my age here but my brother many moons ago got paint to stop flaking off chrome bumpers on his talbot sunbeam  by using ordinary gloss paint as an undercoat
it wont flake off and it means you don't have to rub down the chrome
